Chinese men's volleyball team won their first Asian Games gold

On October 4, 1986, the Chinese men's volleyball team won their first ever Asian Games gold medal.

In preparation for the 10th Asian Games held in Hanseong (now known as Seoul), South Korea, the Chinese men's volleyball team had been training intensively since the beginning of the winter training.

They organised targeted tactics on how to defeat Korea, suggesting to mainly simulate and train on one offensive strategy, blocking and serving.

At the last men's volleyball match held at Hanyang University Gymnasium, the Chinese team effectively utilised dynamic and rapid tactics, frequently launching attacks. With a high success rate on blocking, they defeated the Indian team in straight sets, 15:3, 15:5 and 15:8.

Following their victory over India, coupled with their previous 3 to 1 reverse win against the host team Korea, and 3 to 0 win over the defending champion Japan, the Chinese team achieved a commendable track record of winning all three matches in the final stage, claiming their team's first ever Asian Games gold medal.
